Opening of Ohrid Summer Festival

EU evening at the OHRID SUMMER FESTIVAL  in the Church of Saint Sophia was a great opportunity to highlight the talent of Duo di Prague, Czech artists – cellist Ivan Vokác and violinist Leos Cepicky. The festival is once again a confirmation of the richness and diversity of the common European cultural heritage.

Western Balkans Youth Orchestra

The Youth Orchestra of the Western Balkans was founded in 2019 as a platform for the cooperation of young professional musicians from 6 countries of the Western Balkans.
“Through culture, we aim to unite the youth of the Western Balkans” – Desar Suleimani, Artistic Director of WBYO – Western Balkans Youth Orchestra.

Charles Michel visit to Ohrid (Prespa forum)

The visit of Charles Michel, President of the European Council of the Council of the European Union to Ohrid began with a presentation of the Mountain Rescue Service by the Red Cross.

Supporting local entrepreneurship, protecting traditional crafts or promoting tourism – the benefits of EU assistance are diverse and influential.

Together with Ambassador David Geer and the Young European Ambassadors, President Michel visited the Robevci house and the church of St. Sofia as part of the rich cultural heritage of Ohrid protected by #UNESCO.

 

EU4 Municipalities – Greenest Municipality Award

On 3 March, being World Wildlife Day, the Delegation of the European Union through an open call invited all municipalities to take part in a competition for Greenest Municipality.  The call offered an opportunity for municipalities to showcase their best examples of solid waste management in 2021, thus contributing towards environmental protection. The call remained open for a month, during which period eight municipalities presented their flagship activities of 2021. Of these, one was selected the Greenest Municipality in 2021. The award will be handed over Ambassador David Geer, Head of Delegation of the European Union on the occasion of the conference.

The Evaluation Board recognized Prilep as a municipality that best demonstrated the environmental practice in the field of waste management in 2021. Ambassador David Gere had the honor to present the award for “Greenest Municipality 2021” to Mayor Jovceski on June 6, 2022 in Prilep.
