A new edition of \u201cCoffee with Ambassadors\u201d<\/strong> took place yesterday at Europe House Strumica<\/a>, this time focusing on \u201cAgriculture and Rural Development\u201d<\/strong>, with the participation of H.E. Petra Drexler, <\/strong>Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany<\/a><\/strong>, and H.E. \u00d6zlem Canel, <\/strong>Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Bringing together farmers, academics and representatives of civil society from the region, the event opened a discussion on the role of agriculture in today\u2019s European economies, the experiences of Germany and the Netherlands, and the opportunities European integration can bring to farmers and rural communities in North Macedonia.<\/p>\n

As one of the country\u2019s key agricultural regions, Strumica was a natural setting for a conversation about a sector that is not only an economic activity, but also an important part of local identity, tradition and everyday life.<\/p>\n

A particular focus of the discussion was the European Union\u2019s Common Agricultural Policy (CAP)<\/strong><\/a> and what it means for farmers in practice. Participants explored how European agricultural policies shape production, support for farmers, environmental standards and the development of rural communities, as well as what joining this system could mean for small and medium-sized agricultural producers in North Macedonia.<\/p>\n

The ambassadors shared Germany\u2019s and the Netherlands\u2019 experiences in addressing one of the key challenges facing modern agriculture: how to maintain high productivity while protecting soil, water, biodiversity and the environment<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
